Jeannette Kagame emphasized that women must take a stronger role in the country’s development by transforming their mindset, attitudes, and actions toward improving social welfare and economic growth.

She made the remarks on Saturday while opening the 6th General Assembly of the Women’s League affiliated with FPR-Inkotanyi, which was attended by over 2,000 participants.

In her address, focused on encouraging women to be self-reliant and confident, she said:
“Nothing is beyond our reach as a country. We have laws that protect us and leadership that values women. The rest is up to us.”

She called on women to continue showing patriotism and actively contribute to national development, stressing that no one else will do it on their behalf.

Jeannette Kagame also highlighted the vital role women play in families, especially in providing quality upbringing, noting that while women may not do everything, their role as the foundation of the family is irreplaceable.

Reflecting on Rwanda’s history, she praised women for their contribution to the country’s liberation struggle, recognizing their dedication in supporting fighters and raising children during difficult times.

She further warned that in a rapidly changing world, new ideologies could threaten family values, urging women to remain vigilant and protect those values.

The Secretary General of FPR-Inkotanyi, Christophe Bazivamo, commended Jeannette Kagame for her role in advancing women’s empowerment and family welfare.

He also praised participants for their achievements and future plans, assuring them of continued support to help achieve sustainable development goals.

The meeting served as a platform to assess progress in women’s empowerment and strengthen strategies to accelerate both their development and that of the nation.
