The Chernihiv region in Ukraine, which borders Russia and Belarus, has been left without electricity for several days following drone attacks attributed to Russian forces.

Local authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to repair damaged infrastructure and restore power to affected areas.

The blackout follows a large-scale drone assault launched by Russia on March 18, 2026, involving 147 drones targeting multiple locations across Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky recently accused Russia of using the ongoing Middle East conflict as cover to intensify its attacks on Ukraine.

The war between Russia and Ukraine began in 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion, causing widespread destruction to infrastructure including roads, bridges, power systems, hospitals, schools, and residential buildings.

Many cities have been heavily damaged or destroyed, with severe consequences for the country’s economy and the daily lives of its citizens.
