President Donald Trump has announced that the United States military successfully rescued a pilot whose F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was recently shot down by Iran.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 3, 2026, when the American aircraft was hit amid escalating tensions between the two countries. One of the pilots was immediately rescued, but the second pilot went missing, prompting urgent search and rescue operations by US forces.

According to President Trump, Iran had even offered a reward to anyone who could locate the missing pilot, raising concerns that he might be captured before US forces reached him.

In a message shared on Truth Social on Sunday morning, Trump confirmed that the missing pilot had been found and safely rescued after an intense operation.

He said, “We found him. My fellow Americans, in the past many hours, the United States military launched one of the most complex search and rescue missions in its history because of one of our soldiers, a highly respected Colonel. I am pleased to tell you that he is in very good condition.”

Trump added that although the rescued pilot sustained some injuries, they were not serious.

The successful mission marks a significant moment for the US military, highlighting its rapid response capabilities in high-risk situations.
