US Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, for planned mediation talks between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
He is expected to take part in the discussions alongside President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner.
Speaking to journalists, Vance said he is ready for negotiations but warned that the United States will not tolerate delays or complications from Iran.
Earlier, Iran’s Parliament Speaker stated that a ceasefire in Lebanon must first be established before talks can begin, a condition that could complicate the process and highlight the sensitivity of the negotiations.
The United States and Iran had recently agreed to a two-week ceasefire. However, one of Washington’s key demands is the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments.
Iran has rejected this condition, insisting that the talks should also address compensation for damages caused by US military actions during the conflict.
