Thierry Henry has strongly criticized Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal F.C. following their disappointing defeat to AFC Bournemouth, questioning the team’s mentality in the title race.

Speaking after the match, Henry said Arsenal appeared too comfortable and lacked the urgency expected from a team fighting for the league title. The former Arsenal striker explained that the team seemed to play cautiously rather than showing the determination needed to win crucial games.

Henry admitted he has often defended Arteta but said the performance against Bournemouth was worrying. According to him, Arsenal moved the ball slowly and played as if they were already in control of the game, something he described as arrogance rather than tactical control.

He emphasized that such performances have become a recurring issue for the team. Henry argued that when the pressure increases, Arsenal tend to hesitate, overthink situations, and focus on playing perfect football instead of doing whatever it takes to secure victory.

Drawing from his experience as a former champion with Arsenal, Henry said title-winning teams sometimes need to suffer and fight aggressively to win matches, even when performances are not perfect. He added that he does not currently see that competitive edge within the squad.

Henry also insisted that the problem goes beyond tactics or substitutions, pointing instead to mentality. He warned that continuing to drop points in such matches could cost Arsenal the title.

The French legend concluded that if Arteta does not quickly change the team’s approach or make tough decisions, Arsenal risk repeating past mistakes and falling short in the title race once again.
