Rwanda national football team, popularly known as Amavubi, defeated Grenada national football team 4–0 at Amahoro Stadium during the FIFA Series 2026 tournament currently taking place in Kigali. The match was attended by Paul Kagame.

The game, played on Friday night, March 27, 2026, marked the first match for head coach Stephen Constantine since returning to lead the Rwandan national team after 11 years. During his previous tenure, he helped Rwanda rise to 64th place in the FIFA rankings.

Both teams started the match with intensity, but Rwanda gradually took control as the home side. After 15 minutes, Grenada dropped deeper while Amavubi increased their attacking pressure.

Rwanda’s starting lineup featured several new faces, including brothers Joy-Lance Mickels and Leroy Jacques Mickels, who were making their debut appearances for the national team.

The breakthrough came in first-half stoppage time when Leroy Jacques Mickels scored the opening goal after receiving a pass from Jojea Kwizera. Just minutes later, Kwizera doubled the lead with a well-taken strike assisted by Abeddy Biramahire, giving Rwanda a 2–0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Amavubi continued their dominance. Captain Djihad Bizimana scored the third goal in the 69th minute with a powerful shot that left the Grenada goalkeeper with no chance.

Coach Stephen Constantine made several substitutions, bringing on players including Hakim Sahabo, Kevin Muhire and Samuel Gueulette to maintain the team’s momentum.

In the 83rd minute, Hakim Sahabo sealed the victory with the fourth goal after coming off the bench, ensuring Rwanda secured a convincing 4–0 win.

The victory sends Amavubi into the final of Group One in the FIFA Series tournament at Amahoro Stadium. Rwanda will return to action on Monday, March 30, where they will face Estonia national football team, which advanced after defeating Kenya national football team 1–0.
