English Premier League club Arsenal FC has joined Rwandans in commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi through a message shared on Tuesday.

The message was published on April 7, 2026, the day Rwanda and the international community begin the Week of Mourning and the 100 days of remembrance for more than one million victims killed during the genocide.

In the message posted on its social media platforms, the club shared a video featuring several players including Jurrien Timber, Christian Nørgaard, David Raya and Ben White delivering messages of solidarity.

In the video, defender Timber offered a message of comfort saying, “On the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, we honor those who lost their lives and stand in solidarity with the people of Rwanda.”

Arsenal has a special partnership with Rwanda through an agreement signed in May 2018 with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). Through this partnership, Rwanda became the club’s main sponsor under the “Visit Rwanda” brand, which appears on the left sleeve of the shirts worn by the first team, the under-23 side, and the women’s team.

The partnership has played a major role in promoting Rwanda’s image and history internationally, contributing significantly to the country’s tourism sector.
