BAL 2026: RSSB Tigers secure second win in Kalahari Conference

Rwanda’s representatives RSSB Tigers continued their impressive run in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2026 after defeating Petro de Luanda 82–78 in their second group game.

The match was played on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at SunBet Arena in South Africa, under the Kalahari Conference, with both teams coming into the game after winning their opening fixtures.

Petro de Luanda started stronger, taking control of the first quarter and leading 17–12. However, RSSB Tigers responded well in the second quarter, with key contributions from Ntore Habimana and Leonard Craig Randall, helping the Rwandan side win the quarter 22–19.

Despite the comeback, Petro de Luanda narrowly led at halftime with a score of 36–34.

In the second half, RSSB Tigers came back with intensity. Players including Mangok Mathiang Ayub and Teafale Lenard Jr helped the team take control, winning the third quarter 23–20.

By the end of the third quarter, Tigers had edged ahead 57–56.

In the final quarter, Petro de Luanda pushed hard to reduce the gap, but RSSB Tigers held firm and secured the win with a final score of 82–78.

This marks the second victory for RSSB Tigers in the Kalahari Conference. The team will return to action on April 1, 2026, against Johannesburg Giants from South Africa.
