The Appeals Body of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has overturned the result of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, ruling that the Senegal national football team forfeited the match against the Morocco national football team.

The decision, made public on March 17, 2026, comes nearly two months after Senegal had been crowned champions following a 1–0 victory in a tense and controversial final held in Morocco.

CAF found that Senegal failed to comply with competition regulations after their players walked off the pitch in protest late in the game, shortly after a penalty was awarded to Morocco.

Following Morocco’s appeal, CAF applied its disciplinary code specifically Article 84 concluding that Senegal’s actions warranted a forfeit. The match has now been officially recorded as a 3–0 win for Morocco. The ruling effectively nullifies Senegal’s AFCON triumph and positions Morocco as the rightful winners of the 2025 tournament.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is therefore recognized as the official title holder, pending any further developments.

Senegal’s football authorities have yet to respond publicly, leaving uncertainty over whether the decision will be contested further or accepted as final.
