Rwandan singer Kevin Kade has been unveiled as the first artist set to perform at the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival 2026, marking his debut appearance at the popular annual concert series.

Speaking in an interview with media Kevin Kade expressed excitement and gratitude after being announced as one of the performers at the seventh edition of the festival, saying the opportunity comes at the right time in his career.

“I would say this is the right moment,” he said. “In previous years, I couldn’t make it to these shows. Last year I was invited, but it didn’t work out due to conflicting schedules. This time, I’m truly happy because I feel my time has come.”

Kevin Kade noted that the festival will give him a rare chance to perform in areas he has never toured before, including places he has never even visited. He described the experience as a valuable opportunity to connect with fans who would otherwise find it difficult to attend his concerts.

“I’m very happy to perform in different regions, especially those I’ve never performed in before, and even places I’ve never been to in my life,” he added.

Apart from Kevin Kade, organizers are expected to announce seven artists in total, who will be revealed gradually ahead of the festival.

The MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival 2026 will run from 20 June to 1 August 2026, touring several towns across Rwanda, including Huye, Ngoma, Nyagatare, Karongi, Muhanga, Musanze, and Rubavu.

Since its inception, and even after adopting the name MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival, the concerts had traditionally been held exclusively in Karongi District. The 2026 edition continues the expanded touring format, bringing live music closer to fans across the country.

With Kevin Kade confirmed as the first act, anticipation is already building for what promises to be one of Rwanda’s most exciting music events of the year.
