King James Announces Major Concert at BK Arena to Celebrate 20 Years in Music

Rwandan music star King James, whose real name is Ruhumuriza James, has officially confirmed that he will hold a major concert at BK Arena to celebrate his 20-year journey in music.

Through his social media platforms on the evening of Saturday, March 14, 2026, the artist shared a promotional poster announcing the concert titled “20 Years of King James.” The event will mark two decades since he began his music career.

The concert is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at BK Arena in Kigali. The preparations are being handled in collaboration with Intore Entertainment, a company well known for organizing major concerts in Rwanda, including the show held by Nigerian star Davido in Kigali in 2025.

Earlier, on March 8, 2026, King James had revealed plans to celebrate his 20 years in the music industry, calling on his fans to come out in large numbers to support the event.

News of the highly anticipated concert has been warmly received by fans of his music and lovers of Rwandan music in general. Many expressed excitement on social media, saying they cannot wait for the big day to arrive so they can celebrate the legacy of one of Rwanda’s most respected musicians.

As a young boy, King James initially dreamed of becoming a businessman because he believed it would bring him financial success. However, in 2006, at the age of 16, he discovered his musical talent while finishing his second year of secondary school. That same year he released his first song titled “Niwowe Nkunda.” The track did not gain much attention at the time, which discouraged him and led him to temporarily step away from music.

In 2008, he made a comeback with the song “Akamunani,” a collaboration with Danny Nanone. After the release, several friends, including producer Lick Lick, encouraged him to continue, telling him he had the potential to become a great artist.

King James later released “Intinyi,” his first solo song, followed by “Naratomboye,” which helped him gain wider recognition in Rwanda’s music scene.

Over his 20-year career, King James has produced numerous hit songs and released several albums, including “Umugisha,” “Umuvandimwe,” and “Biracyaza.” He has also won multiple awards, such as the Salax Awards and Primus Guma Guma Superstar, among others.
