A man armed with a machete killed four children during an attack at a nursery school in Kampala on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
The incident occurred at Gaba Early Childhood Development Program, where the attacker reportedly entered the school and injured several children before killing four of them.
According to Uganda Police Force, the suspect managed to gain access to the school by pretending to be a parent. Witnesses told Daily Monitor that the man first entered the school office and briefly spoke with the head teacher before leaving.
He later closed the school gates and began attacking children one by one with a machete.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that at least four children died in the attack, while several others were injured. The motive behind the attack has not yet been established.
Authorities also confirmed that the suspect has been arrested.
Footage aired by NTV Uganda showed grieving and angry parents attempting to enter the school to confront the suspect. Police fired shots in the air to disperse the crowd.
