A fatal accident occurred in Nyanza town, specifically in Nyanza Cell, Busasamana Sector, after a hospital ambulance collided with a motorcycle, killing a passenger on the spot.
The incident happened on the morning of April 9, 2026. The deceased had earlier called a motorcycle taxi rider to take him from home to his workplace, where he worked as a cook at Ecole des Sciences Saint Louis de Montfort Nyanza (E.SC.N).
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred on a road in the town center heading toward Christ the King Church. The motorcycle collided with an ambulance from Nyanza Hospital that was coming from the direction of the same church.
The impact caused both the rider and the passenger to fall. The motorcyclist sustained injuries, while the passenger died instantly at the scene, witnesses told UMUNOTA.COM.
Efforts are ongoing to obtain more details from the Rwanda National Police, as the police spokesperson in the Southern Province was not immediately available for comment.
The deceased is survived by a wife and children. He resided in Nyanza Cell, Busasamana Sector, in Nyanza District.
