The United States Department of Defense (Pentagon) has reportedly asked the White House to approve an additional $200 billion in funding to support ongoing and potential military operations related to Iran, according to the Washington Post.
The request would still require approval from the U.S. Congress before any funds can be allocated.
In December, the United States Congress approved a defense budget of approximately $901 billion for the current fiscal year. However, President Donald Trump has continued to push for increased military spending.
Trump has previously argued that defense funding should reach around $1.5 trillion by 2027, describing the current global security environment as “challenging and concerning,” and emphasizing the need for enhanced preparedness amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The reported request comes at a time of heightened military activity and escalating conflict involving Iran and its regional adversaries, raising questions about the future scale of U.S. involvement and defense priorities.
