Thousands of Muslims from across the country gathered at BK Arena on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, for a special event dubbed “Meet The President,” where they met President Paul Kagame to celebrate progress made over the past 31 years.

The event brought together participants from different provinces, all expressing excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with the Head of State.

During the gathering, President Kagame reaffirmed his commitment to join the Muslim community in future celebrations, including marking 30 years since Muslims in Rwanda were officially allowed to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. He recalled accepting this invitation earlier, emphasizing that he values invitations that celebrate national achievements.

The invitation was initially conveyed by Mussa Fazil Harerimana, who spoke on behalf of allied political parties supporting the ruling FPR-Inkotanyi. He highlighted the historical role President Kagame played in promoting religious inclusion, particularly recognizing Islamic holidays.

Muslim leaders and participants praised the government’s role in advancing their rights and recognition, including the official acknowledgment of Islamic holidays and broader inclusion in national activities.

The event came just five days after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr on March 20, 2026, which was held at Kigali Pele Stadium in Nyamirambo at the national level.

Participants described the meeting as a moment of unity, reflection, and appreciation for the country’s journey toward inclusive governance and development.
