The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has announced new public transport fares for different provinces across Rwanda, which will take effect on Monday, April 6, 2026.

According to the updated fare list, the most expensive route will be the journey from Nyabugogo to Kamembe via Huye, which will cost 11,445 Rwandan francs. Passengers using the route through Karongi will pay 10,296 Rwf.

In the Northern Province, the route from Nyabugogo to Musanze will cost 3,821 Rwf, while in the Southern Province the journey from Nyabugogo to Huye will cost 5,068 Rwf.

In the Eastern Province, the longest trip from Nyabugogo to Kagitumba will cost 7,900 Rwf, while the journey from Nyabugogo to Rusumo will cost 7,029 Rwf.

RURA stated that the new fares were introduced to improve public transport services while considering changes in fuel prices and other operational costs affecting transport operators.

Passengers and transport operators have been urged to respect the new prices in order to avoid disputes and ensure smooth service delivery.

The new fares are expected to improve public transportation services across the country and help the sector adapt to rising fuel prices influenced by ongoing conflicts in parts of the world, particularly in the Middle East.
