The leadership of Global Citizen has described bringing the Move Afrika concerts to Rwanda as one of its best decisions, praising President Paul Kagame and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) for their strong partnership.

Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans made the remarks during the third edition of Move Afrika held on the night of March 17, 2026, at BK Arena in Kigali. The event featured American artist Doja Cat, who has South African roots, and drew a large audience from across the region and beyond.

Evans noted that hosting the concert series in Kigali had long been a vision for Global Citizen, highlighting the city’s growing reputation as a premier destination for global entertainment.

“There is no better place I could have imagined than Kigali. In the first year we had Kendrick Lamar, the second year John Legend, and today we have Doja Cat. I would like to thank President Kagame and RDB for their partnership,” he said.

The concert attracted thousands of attendees, including First Lady Jeannette Kagame, reflecting the event’s high profile and national significance.

Doja Cat becomes the third international headliner to perform at Move Afrika in Kigali, following Kendrick Lamar in 2024 and John Legend in 2025. After her performance in Rwanda, she is scheduled to continue the tour in South Africa at the SunBet Arena on March 20, 2026.

Move Afrika has rapidly grown into one of the most anticipated annual music events in the region, attracting global stars while also boosting tourism. Many attendees say the concert offers them an opportunity not only to enjoy world-class entertainment but also to visit and experience Rwanda.

Organizers say the initiative goes beyond music, aiming to create economic opportunities, promote African talent, and position cities like Kigali as key hubs in the global live entertainment circuit.
