Stephen Constantine Returns as Head Coach of Rwanda’s Amavubi

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has officially confirmed the appointment of Stephen Constantine as the Head Coach of the Rwanda Senior Men’s National Football Team, Amavubi, as well as the Rwanda U-23 National Team.

According to the federation, Constantine has signed a two-year renewable contract, marking a new step in Rwanda’s efforts to strengthen its football structures and improve performance at both continental and global levels.

According to FERWAFA, Constantine is expected to officially take charge of Amavubi on Monday, March 16, 2026, where he will begin working with the existing technical staff and players. One of his immediate priorities will be preparing the team for the upcoming FIFA Series Tournament scheduled to take place later this month in Kigali.

FERWAFA noted that the appointment reflects Rwanda’s ongoing commitment to building a strong and competitive national team capable of performing at higher levels of international football.

This is not the first time Constantine leads Amavubi, having previously coached the team between 2014–2015, during which Rwanda achieved significant progress, including a rise in international rankings. Under his leadership, Rwanda reached its highest FIFA ranking of 64th in the world.

Further details regarding Constantine’s appointment, including his technical plans and strategic roadmap for the national teams, are expected to be shared during an official press conference scheduled for next week.
