The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced that Iran has been given 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or accept a proposed peace agreement, warning that failure to do so will lead to intense military strikes.

The United States has been engaged in a conflict with Iran for over a month, a confrontation that has already resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump warned that the deadline is approaching.
He wrote, “Remember when I gave Iran 10 days to accept the deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The deadline is almost over. Only 48 hours remain before serious consequences.”

The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran has had significant global economic consequences, particularly because about 20% of the world’s daily oil supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz along with other key goods transported to and from the Middle East.

The impact has also reached Rwanda, where fuel prices have exceeded 2,000 Rwandan francs for the first time. Petrol has risen to around 2,303 Rwf per liter while diesel now costs about 2,205 Rwf.
