The administration of Donald Trump has indicated that the United States is not interested in ceasefire negotiations in the ongoing conflict with Iran, signaling that military operations will continue.

A senior official at the White House told Reuters that Trump rejected proposals from some Middle Eastern countries suggesting that negotiations should begin to reach a temporary truce.

According to U.S. officials, Washington believes Iran had previously refused ceasefire proposals before the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iranian targets.

The source said Trump is determined to continue the war in order to weaken Iran’s military capabilities.

Another White House official said the U.S. president is currently focused on the military campaign rather than negotiations.“Right now it is not something he is interested in. We are continuing with the plan,” the official said.

“Perhaps discussions could happen one day, but not now. President Trump said potential new leaders of Iran have expressed interest in talks, and that may happen in the future. For now, Operation Epic Fury continues.”

The White House also claimed that Iranian security official Ali Larijani and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had attempted to open a channel for ceasefire negotiations through Oman, possibly involving U.S. Vice President JD Vance, but the talks did not materialize.

The war between the United States and Iran began on February 28, 2026, with Washington stating that its goal is to dismantle what it claims is Iran’s effort to develop nuclear weapons.
