President of the United States, Donald Trump, has said that a ceasefire agreement with Iran could be reached on April 6, 2026, as discussions between the two sides continue.

Trump made the remarks on April 5, 2026, during an interview with Fox News, where he indicated that Iran is currently involved in talks aimed at ending the conflict.

During the interview, Trump warned that the United States could launch strikes against Iranian infrastructure if Tehran fails to comply with the proposed agreement.

He stated that if Iran refuses to sign the deal, he is considering attacking key facilities in the country, including bridges and energy plants.

Despite the warning, Trump said there is still hope that negotiations could succeed and that a deal may be reached by April 6.

However, officials in Iran have repeatedly denied that they are engaged in direct negotiations with the United States.

One of the key issues in the discussions is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran closed earlier, triggering global concerns over rising oil prices.

About 20% of the world’s oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Since the route was closed, Iran has reportedly targeted cargo ships believed to belong to countries allied with the United States.

Normally around 3,000 ships pass through the strait every month, but traffic has dropped significantly since the closure. Nearly one-third of the world’s fertilizer shipments also pass through this route, along with food supplies and technology equipment.

Since the conflict involving Iran began on February 28, 2026, the violence has caused significant casualties across the region.

By April 3, more than 2,076 people had been killed in Iran and about 26,500 injured. In Lebanon, at least 1,345 people had died and 4,040 were injured.

Other countries affected include Iraq with 109 deaths, Kuwait with seven deaths, and Syria where four people were reported dead. In Jordan, 29 people were injured.

In Israel, at least 24 people had died and 6,594 were injured. Four deaths were reported in Palestine.

Additional casualties were reported in Bahrain with three deaths, Qatar with 16 injuries, and in the United Arab Emirates where 12 people died and 190 were injured.

In Saudi Arabia, two people were killed and 22 injured, while Oman reported three deaths and 15 injuries. The United States had recorded 13 deaths and around 200 injuries among its forces.
