Ukraine has joined Rwanda, its citizens, and friends of the country in commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, honoring the lives of innocent victims.

The message of solidarity was delivered by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, through a post on X, where he expressed his country’s support for Rwandans during this period of remembrance.

He praised the significant progress Rwanda has made over the past 32 years, highlighting efforts to rebuild state institutions, restore security, and promote unity and reconciliation among its people.

Sybiha noted that Rwanda’s recovery journey reflects the difficult path it has gone through since the genocide, but emphasized that strong leadership has enabled the country to achieve remarkable development and social cohesion, earning global recognition.

In his message, Ukraine also called on the international community to strengthen efforts to prevent genocide and other crimes against humanity. He stressed the importance of taking firm action against hate speech and extremist ideologies that can lead to violence.

He concluded by stating that remembrance should not only be about reflecting on the past, but also about taking concrete steps toward building a world grounded in peace, justice, and respect for human life.
