President Kagame Arrives in Brazzaville for Denis Sassou Nguesso’s Inauguration

President Paul Kagame has arrived in Brazzaville where he was received by his counterpart Denis Sassou Nguesso for discussions focused on strengthening the already strong bilateral relations between Rwanda and the Republic of the Congo.

Kagame arrived in the Congolese capital on April 15, 2026, to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Sassou Nguesso scheduled for Thursday, April 16.

According to a statement released by Village Urugwiro, the Office of the President of Rwanda, Kagame was welcomed at the Congolese presidential palace known as Palais du Peuple.

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed the longstanding cooperation between their countries, key issues affecting the African continent, and collaboration in strategic sectors aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.

President Kagame also congratulated President Sassou Nguesso and wished him success in his new term.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at Unity Stadium and is expected to be attended by several heads of state from across the African continent.
